The inspiration for this post came from this last week when we had a stomach bug go through our house. A few things I want to make a point about:
We need to advocate for our kids and listen to our mom intuition!
The body is so smart and communicates to us what it needs support with.
I wanna stress these two points because if this was me 5 years ago I would have missed these cues and been living in fear and worry. Now I get excited when I see so clearly what someone could use support for.
What happened was that all three of my children, aged 6, 4, and 2, came down with a stomach bug. My 6-year-old recovered rapidly, within just 12 hours, while the other two were affected for about a week. My youngest began experiencing very creamy pale stools and exhibited anger and tantrums consistently throughout the day and night. The creamy pale stools were a clear indication that his liver and gallbladder needed support. Bile, produced by the liver and stored in the gallbladder until required for digestion, is responsible for the brown color of stools. Another indication is the association of the liver with the emotion of anger, which we witnessed frequently throughout the day with all the tantrums and constant screaming. Additionally, he was waking up over the past four nights between 12 and 3 a.m., and if he did sleep, it was very restless during these hours. According to the Chinese body clock, these hours are linked to the gallbladder and liver.
This is a great example of how our bodies are amazingly designed. His little body gave me multiple clear clues to what was needing additional support so that his body can self-heal. So I write this to encourage you, no matter what you're facing health-wise, to listen closely to symptoms and signs your body is giving. This is our body's way of communicating, nothing more, and we should not fear this communication, but instead embrace it.

The Role of the Liver and Gallbladder
The liver is responsible for filtering toxins from the blood, producing bile to aid in digestion, and storing essential nutrients. The gallbladder, on the other hand, stores and concentrates bile, releasing it into the small intestine to help break down fats. Together, these organs are essential for maintaining a healthy digestive system and overall metabolic function.
Impact of a Stomach Virus
After a stomach virus, the body may be left weakened and in need of additional support. A stomach virus can disrupt normal digestion, leading to an imbalance in gut health and increased stress on the liver and gallbladder. Symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea can deplete the body of vital nutrients and lead to inflammation, making it essential to provide extra care to these organs during recovery.
